Gorgeous Erin

When I first met Erin, we had the "I'm getting married and I need longer hair, better color, and great hair on my wedding day" conversation. We had around 9-10 months and luckily her hair grows fast :) For the engagement photos, we decided on a round brushed style. On the wedding day, it was loose curls, slightly pinned up, then pulling it back for the reception. I like the look of two hair styles on a wedding day. The first style is more innocent, romantic, while the second says I'm ready to celebrate! I styled the women of the wedding party, except one because she already has super curly hair. What a fun day!

Beautiful Allison

What a joy to work with Allison on creating this beautiful style. She has tons of hair, so no hair extensions needed, but plenty of hairspray. We did not use a "bump-it" but joked about it a few times while creating the poof in the back. A classic chignon will always be in style, and I like the added side bang, and volume at the top. It gives this look a modern edge with a vintage kick. No only did I do Allison hair, but her mom, sister, and sister-in-law's too. Basic blow dry's were done to give their everyday hair a fresh style.

Mr. and Mrs. McAferty

I always say I have so much fun styling hair and Annie's wedding was no exception. The morning of her bridal pictures we realized her long beautiful hair wasn't full enough to create the volume needed in the back. Luckily, I happened to have a set of blonde hair extensions that matched her hair perfectly and gave us the right amount of fullness. I love this look for brides because it's so timeless and the attention is focused on the face.

Beth and Cory's wedding

Beth and Cory make the cutiest couple! I loved listening to their love story while coloring and styling Beth's hair. I was honored to style all the hair for her wedding, plus the engagement photos. For the wedding, we decided to color her hair a little darker and add hair extensions for length and volume. The overall style was classic, and each woman chose a hair style she felt most comfortable in.
(I styled all the women's hair, except for the two blondes on the left)

The long and short of it

I'll never forget the day Nicole came to see me for the first time. She had long beautiful hair and with a smile, requested me to cut it all off. Seriously! We had a long conversation about how it might feel to no longer have flowing locks down her back, or the sensation of hair brushing against her shoulders or what to do with all the elastics she will never use again. During the preparatory conversation, I was analyzing her amazing facial features, big eyes, high cheek bones, inviting smile and I knew she would look fantastic with short hair. I'm glad she went through with it and was well prepared to say good bye to long hair. She looks absolutely gorgeous!

Ombré, it's an obsession!

Time for a little vocabulary lesson, brought to you by the french word ombre.

Ombré: shaded or graduated in tone: said for a color
I'm obsessed with ombre hair coloring. It's super easy to maintain, and gives a fresh look to the old highlight routine. I have a few pictures I've taken with my phone that I'll use for now, but a photo shoot is in the works. I can't wait!

This beautiful girl came in needing a color correction. She had hot brassy gold roots and dark muddy ends. Too bad I forgot to take a before picture. It was really fun to create the look she actually wanted and with that big smile, I'm pretty sure she was in love.

My beautiful friend Shara, who looks amazing with black, brunette or blonde hair, decided to have both blonde and brunette this time around. So we lifted out all the dark and replaced it with a brunette base and blonde ends. When you have dark hair like this and you're trying to get blonde ends, it's not easy. It took about 4-5 hours to achieve. Your hair might need a little t.l.c. if you're doing a big transition like this, but nothing Aveda Damage Remedy shampoo and conditioner can't fix. The photo's will show the transition.

Lexi and Becky

Vintage styles are becoming modern again, so for this shoot we did a mix of both. Long flowing vintage curls and pinned up curls to create a bob with a headband for flare. We had a little problem with the camera, but we managed to get a few shots that worked. We found an antique store in Georgetown that let us do the photo shoot inside, it was great!
Lexi is a natural blonde. Her hair color below is completely natural! Amazing, right? Like most of us, Lexi wanted to try a new hair color, so I colored her hair a light brown. I'll have to ask her if blondes or brunettes have more fun.

Becky has beautiful long hair and it was really fun to work with. She hadn't colored her hair in a long time and didn't want something she needed to keep up with, so I created a color that would grow out soft and natural. I weaved a golden blonde around the front hairline and a chestnut brown throughout.
